Do you have LED lights in the fogs or headlights? I had a set that caused EMI when on for AM/FM reception...

Do you have an aftermarket radio? Subwoofer with an external amp? The thump, thump you are hearing at startup and shut down are the amplifier capacitors powering up or shutting down. It looks like you are using a line output converter with a trigger wire for an external amp. Your head unit/radio will receive power before the LOC senses the trigger from the head unit. Once the LOC turns on the remote amp the capacitors power up and the thump is due to the delay in the external amp receiving power slightly after the head unit. Think of it as the radio is ready to play music but the external amp isn’t so the thump is it powering up. The reverse is true when turning off. The head unit loses power first, then the external amp and the thump is the power drain from the capacitors. If the thumps are really bad or make a popping sound it could be a bad capacitor in the external amp or a poor power feed to the amp. This is probably why you are asking about a power source for the LOC. A better switched power source would be in the interior fuse box under the kick panel. There are unused circuits of varying amps that can be tapped especially in an SLT with less fancy gizmos as standard equipment. As SitKneelBend pointed out there are components in a vehicle that cause interference. Another thing you can look into if the headlights/fogs aren’t causing the interference is the proximity from the speaker wires to power wires. Speaker wires that cross or run alongside power wires can pick up distortion. Also your aftermarket amp and any other amp needs a solid chassis ground to eliminate ground loop interference. I’d start with relocating that LOC to a power source in the fuse box and checking the grounds again especially any aftermarket amps and the LOC.

My bad, your fuse box is under the hood. Sincere apologies, old habits die hard. Check your power and grounds. Suggest finding a new power source for your LOC and good chassis grounds on amp and LOC. If you still have static check speaker and power wire proximity. After that it’s running down aftermarket parts for interference. Good luck, these problems can be hard to track down.
