2024 Ram 1500 High RPM's on highway at low speed

Some quick math indicates your transmission may be in 7th gear if your axel ratios are 3:92s and in 6th gear if your axel ratio is 3:21s. What gear was your transmission in when you observed this?

    What the heck is this?

Have you recently had your windshield replaced? When I had a windshield replaced in my 2013 Laramie, the installer told me the flashing red light at the top of the mirror indicated the auto-high beam feature required a re-alignment due to the windshield being replaced. Once he recalibrated the...

My pretty bad 2018 RAM 1500 Hemi experience, help/advice needed on what to do next

If it were me, yes, honor the warranty but in a timely manner. It appears they are honoring the warranty but waiting the time was unacceptable the first time let alone the second time. I've read a few of these types of issues where parts and replacement items are difficult to get but at the...

2024 Limited with Alpine System - What to do Next?

Looks like the only test not mentioned is comparing your 2024 to another 2024 with the same trim. I assume that would have been done if one was available. I'm wondering if the issue is unique to your vehicle or did they break something for 2024. They do make changes between the model years and...

    Cummins Killer Bolt.

I guess anything is possible but in all the years the grid heater bolt of death has been discussed, I've never read the turbo has been taken out. From the pictures I've see, the grid heater bolt becomes part of the piston. Even if there is a loose piece of the bolt, it would have to find its...

5th wheel max weight for 2024 2500 diesel longhorn

Look on the driver's door jam for the placard that has the tire pressure specifications. On that same placard will be the maximum payload for this vehicle. Every vehicle's payload will vary based on the truck's trim package and options. A simple rule of thumb is to take the maximum weight of a...

    Cummins Killer Bolt.

I've wondered that myself. Does RAM's powertrain warranty cover the repair? Even if it does and the failure occurs within the warranty period, RAM doesn't share warranty repair data. I don't think anyone knows. I've been "jiggling" my grid heater connection and so far, it remains secure.

    Cummins Killer Bolt.

Good question. The "killer" bolt gets a lot more credit than what it is due but if it happens it is a big cost item. Here is a YT video explaining the grid heater bolt issue and how to do a quick test to see if you are in danger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi2rkVto57Y

    alignment after V06 recall

I tried that recently and RamCares had a specialist contact me. The specialist denied the "non-welded" drag link repair stating I have the approved welded repair. I have visited the top three tire chain stores in my area, and none of them will touch the front end because of the welded "repair"...

    Ram Connect rant

I agree. My wife just bought herself a new Bronco and Ford's FordPass is also free forever.

Why should I stay with RAM?

Do you mean your RAM experience has been bad? The 68RFE transmission is just fine when used as advertised. I know I have one that has been pulling 16K worth of RV all around our great country without issues, in fact, the entire truck has been without issues excluding the few recalls. I'm not...

Why should I stay with RAM?

I couldn't believe that until I researched it. Apparently, RAM HDs HEMI trucks only made up 5% of their sales. The rumor is the Hurricane will replace the HEMI but why they don't show the Hurricane as an option is a mystery. From what I could find, this started with the 2023 model year.

Why should I stay with RAM?

I'm also a GM retiree and over the years, I watched as the GMS (employee price) dwindled, the last GM I bought was a 2005 Pontiac GTO, I think the GMS price gave me an earth-shattering $600 off MSRP. If I had to buy a new truck today, I think I would go with GM, I've had all the grief with Ford...

Service ETC, Braking System, & multiple codes

Typically, when you experience a flood of sensor issues, it is caused by a module or modules that are not getting good power. It seems that 9.6 volts is the threshold of how low the system voltage can go before the modules start setting DTCs. You stated you replaced the battery, how long ago...

What is this under my power side mirror arm?

I park my truck so that the morning sun doesn't hit the driver's side outside mirror in the colder times of the year so heated seats and steering wheel turn on with remote start. In the summer, I park so the mirror housing gets the sun and the auto-vented seats turn on with a remote start. Not...
