I'll take port over direct injection any day. 15% fuel economy is not worth the added complexity of DI IMO. The high pressure fuel pumps on many makes are known to leak into the crankcase essentially fuel diluting the oil. The injectors are stupid money and require special one use gaskets on some engines.
I'm sure there's power advantages with DI as well but IMO its just not worth the repair headaches as they age.
