Got my RAM 3500 Crew Cab a month ago and wanted to make the rear passenger compartment a little more user friendly for a pet carrier. A fold flat floor seemed like a good solution and a nice DIY project. Seeing a few online I took the plunge and got it done for $75 and some labor. I had some black vinyl from a previous project and black latex paint that is not included in the final cost. All parts came from Home Depot. The drawing shows part numbers and store location for my near by store so I would not have to search for the parts.

Here are some photos and a JPG of the AutoCad drawing.

The drawing. I have a PDF file but can't put it on Photo Bucket. The little strip at the back will have a couple of sheet metal brackets to fasten to the rear seat bolts. Right now i put strips of hook Velcro to keep it from moving around.

this is awesome! I wish there were more DIYs like this! Any way you can make the pictures bigger? Is their dimensions on the first one?

Bought a used 2013 Quad Cab, and the guy who owned it before must have taken the fold flat floor out since the mounting hardware was still in it. Not wanting to pay 300 bucks for a new one, the plans here inspired me. However, I have the 60/40 rear seats so I had to redesign the plans to work for me. Floor is 1/2 MDF, legs 1/4. I'm starting the build tomorrow. I have dimensional layouts with measurements if anyone is interested.

Ox45, nice work! Did you use Solidworks for the design drawings?

Those were done in Sketchup. I got the driver's side all carpeted and installed. Looks and works great, although I learned I'm not too good in upholstery work. Doing the passenger side tonight. I'll put up pics when it's all done.

Fold Flat Floor

Clifford15,

Nice job on the floor! Could I get the PDF for your design? I've got a 2004 1500 that didn't come with one and I'd like to build one like yours.

TTT - update.
Quite a while back I made brackets to secure the DIY FFF. See pic. It is a piece of 1/8" thk X 2 x 6 aluminum. The angle cut is 1.25 x 1.25 x 45* to clear the floor. There are a couple of #8 x 1/2" pan head sheet metal screws to fasten the bracket to the FFF rear strip. The 1/4-20 bolt goes through an existing hole in the seat mount. It is simple but ets the job done. One for each side required. Could also fast the 1/4 screw from the bottom up and use a wing nut for quick removal.
