Running hot and no heat and whooshing noise
On my way to work this morning i did not have heat in my vehicle. Truck ran fine. On my way home I still do not have heat and I noticed a wooshing noise coming from the engine bay. The engine temperature was running slightly above 200 would creep up to about I would say 230 then back down to just above 200. Still no heat. This was all on the highway. 70 plus mile an hour speeds. Once I hit the surface streets the thermostat quickly rose the point where I felt the need to shut the engine off and let it cool. What's going on with my truck? 2004 Ram 2500 diesel automatic transmission.

You need to see how much water is in the radiator, see if you see water running down the front of the motor or a puddle underneath when hot and cold. If you have no heat check to see if your passenger floor is wet. The wooshing noise is the water (what's left) in the cooling system getting pushed in (the word I can explain) like waves.

Sounded more like the engine fan wooshing...what kind of coolant do these trucks take?

Giant puddle of coolant under my truck. Pulled the radiator cap and found an empty radiator. Poured distilled water into the system and saw water flowing from under the water pump. Replace the water pump and went ahead and did the thermostat as well. I plan to flush the system entirely and refill with a 50/50 mix. Can you recommend proper flush method?
