What's the rating on the step bumper for towing?

I've installed a 2" Ball on the step bumper of my 2001 Ram Short Bed with the 5.2L engine. What's the towing capacity of the step bumper? Thinking about towing a 20' ultra-light travel trailer and was wondering if I needed a aftermarket hitch installed.

On my 97 the max tow weight is on the bumper near the holes for hitch ball.

Sorry everyone, should have looked in the manual before posting this. The manual says the bumper is rated at Class III and can tow a trailer up to 5000 lbs. Guess I'm going to have to get a Class IV hitch to pull a heavier travel trailer.

Your bumper would end up tacoing. Probably even if you're towing below the rating.

Yeah, go with a Class IV hitch vs. using a ball on the bumper for that size trailer.
