How do you drain and change the fluid in the transfer case?
What type of fluid is required?
How much will be required?
Are there any filters or gaskets required?

I added a picture of my transfer case for reference.

You can see the bottom plug, which is the drain plug.
Take the top one out, then remove the drain plug.

Put the bottom plug back in, and fill with 2 quarts of atf+4 auto transmission fluid.

No gaskets or filters required.

MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE... ALWAYS fill plug before drain... Otherwise you may find yourself in a situation where you can't open the fill plug.

I have seen people fill thing from the vent tube hole in a pinch, but since it is on top, it is a PITA to do...

Perfect, thanks. I have no way of knowing when or if he fluid has ever been changed in the transfer case, so I will change it and start my own baseline for future services on my truck.

Good to know. I think it's only recommended to change it every 75k miles
