exactly, the only time I will do a cut and polish early is if the paint product says it can use it, you can cut and polish within a week and be fine but definitely not wax, I didn't put anything on the paint of my truck for at least 5 months after it was painted

Yea anytime I've had anything at the body shop they've told me to wait a month before using any wax on it.

month minimal, if its out in the sun all day every day you can get away with it, but I always wait 3 months

Alright everyone, sorry for the late reply.

So I went back to get my truck last Saturday after being told numerous times my truck was ready.

The gig list they were to work off included:
Front Bumper runs

Entire passenger side had paint issues

Dent on roof needs fixing

Small dent on passenger side hood

Drivers side view mirror loose - needs to be tightened

Bed liner chipping - needs resprayed

Paint rear bumper plastic with texture paint

Troubleshoot & fix ABS light (if possible, they offered to take a look)

Install new headlights and tail lights - I provided the lights

When I showed up the wet sand and buff were done and they were just wiping down the truck.

NONE of the paint issues were addressed!!!!![emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

They literally just buffed over all the errors. Every panel has something wrong, from minor dust in clear coat to horrendous overspray and orange peel.

Not to mention my radio now doesn't work!!![emoji30][emoji30][emoji30]

Now I'm in dialog with the owner to, once again, figure out when they'll do the job right.

Sorry I don't have pics but it's been raining ever since I picked it up. It's a stunning "50 footer" but as you get closer the flaws just leap out at you.

hate to say it like this but you are getting what you paid for, that deal you got was way too good to be true, they are giving you the run around cause they under priced you (majorly) and have worked through their profits already for sure so they don't want to work on it for free which is what they are doing now...

I agree with Demon when I quote I charge $500 + supplies and that's still cheap paint alone cost about $500 for a whole car

amen to that, I spent more than that for just one color of my ram, I think the total for the paint on my truck was $1800+ and that doesn't scratch the labor cost nor the cost of clear, primer, ect...

That's also with my discounted rate so imagine if y'all went to get some I only pay about 10% over store cost so yeah and paint is expensive.

Oh believe me, I know the price was way under what other shops were quoting however, I'm the customer and the owner said he could do a good job for the price quoted. Did I think it'd be perfect? Nope but I don't think acceptable is too much to ask.

My reality is that my time and inconvenience still hasn't exceeded the $2k -$4k savings I have going this way. Yes I'm aggravated but I'm more cheap than frustrated. [emoji12]

So I'll drive it for now waiting on my time to return it to the shop. Can't walk away at this point.

any paint can shine great with the proper finish work here is a fender I rattle canned, lol, first pic shows the orange peel after spraying clear and then while sanding and then the final product, and in the last pic you can see its actually clearer and more smooth than OEM paint

Oh yeah, he's already acknowledged that all doors need to be reshot even before seeing what I pointed out. There are blemishes on All panels.

Finally getting my truck painted

These white spots are particles in the rear passenger side quarter panel paint.

The grey dirt/dust is from driving in the rain.

Is that overspray on the spears?
And did they hire a circus monkey?
Could do better with a rattle can in the dark
