Hey everyone..i hav 99 ram 1500,v6...base model truck has the bench seat...it is really bad...lol...i found a 40 20 40 seat( i believe thats what they were called) from a ram 2500..i took a quick measure between the two mounting bolts next to the door ..its the same in both trucks...the front and rear seat legs are staggered, the rear legs is shorter in my truck...appears the same in the 2500,but hard to tell with the carpet....bottom line..will they swap??? Looks like they will, but id prefer an expert opinion...:) any help appreciated....thanks much....both trucks hav non power seats....

expert opinion here.

Have done it in both a single cab and an ext cab.

If it is from a single cab into a single cab yes, same with ext cab. you cannot easily (direct swap) from a single to and an ext cab.

This is not the answer you are looking for, but I would keep searching for the correct seats.

It took me some time to piece together my "leather" interior in my ext cab, unfortunately it is hard to find leather seats in good shape, so I made my own set from 3 different donor trucks at two different parts yards.

Best of luck in any case.

From experience of buying a standard cab that had an ext cab 40/20/40 in it.

The framing is not the same between a ext cab and standard cab. The front of the ext cab set-up is shorter. The PO actually had stacked big washers to "fill" the gap between the bottom of the frame to the floor board. There was probably a 1.25" to 1.5" difference. Sorry I don't have a photo.
But I went to a local pick-n-pulled and found a standard cab 40/20/40 and put it in.

Yes, the front "legs" are shorter.
Just remember this is something that is a definite safety thing if you get in an accident you will want something secure and strong.

I'm sure you could swap the seats from one frame to the other.

Like Dodge Drew said, the seat is a safety device. You want it properly attached to the frame. Unless your getting those seats for free or completely dead set, I would continue your search.

Alternatively since I myself like to go against the system at times, you can stack washers, wood with hole drilled in it , or even use a pipe.

Pics if you decide to go for it

a 40/20/40 is three piece, but no all mounts are the same from single to single and ext to ext.
