More pics... I will be adding some detail, including the Morel logo to it, but this is pretty much how they will sit... Roughly 15 degrees off axis.

I listened to them with a Morel tweet on one side and a Mille tweet on the other side and the difference is dramatic. The Milles are MUCH brighter than the Morels and the Morels are much more natural and warm... I realize that this probably has as much to do with the placement as it does with the tweeters themselves.

:)

Thanks E, and laid back is right... Gary Summers has the same tweets in his Benz and he said almost zero EQ needed to get them nice and flat. I'm gonna play with them in REW a bit tonight and see how they sound...

*Had* in his Benz. ;) Gary switched to Illusion Audio C3CX coaxials.

But yeah, the Morels are super smooth...have a buddy that uses the Supremos in his truck.

Oh sorry, I guess my info is outdated... Lol :favorites13:

Btw, I do like those Illusion C3CXs... One of these days I am going to try them. ;)

Is Gary running them in a 3way??

Depends what you mean by 3way since Gary is running something like 16 channels active.

He's got three of them on his dash, with one on the L/C/R respectively...but each mid/tweeter processed actively. He still has the 6.5s Morel Supremos I believe in his fiberglassed doors, and active 3-way in the rears as well, and then his subs.

We actually talked about them a bit since I ran the set in my Ram first, then he basically found out that the Morel dome mids he was running has the same flange diameter as the C3CX so they were a drop in for his current pods. We are both enjoying the coherence of having the mid and tweeter originate from the same center...just end up delaying the tweeter just a hair. :)

Oh wow, Gary's set-up is not a 3way, it's more like an ****! Lol

Yep, those C3CXs sound like a really cool set-up...

Haha, yeah, Gary uses 3 DSPs to process all of those speakers (pair of H990s and an H800 iirc). He usually stops by for my events...have one coming up in December, maybe you can make it. ;) Would love to get a listen to your ride!

As for Illusion's CX line, yep, I have used them extensively. I had the C4CX in my Civic below.

And the Mrs had the C5CX in her Smart.

They have been criticized by some as not being true "concentric" drivers...but IME they are very close. I don't consider myself a tuning expert, but consider that someone like Gary who sees value in them who has orders of magnitude more experience...so I think that kind of says something. :)

Beautiful! I keep hearing great stuff about them... They're really peaking my interest.

As usual, I can't leave well enough alone... :naughty:

I ordered a pair of aluminum tweeter pods from the guy in Germany. AND I picked up some H.A.T. 5.25" coaxs and swapped them for the Mille midranges in the soundbar... Haven't done any tuning yet, but I want to experiment with a wider frequency range than I had with the 3" Milles.

These babies finally came in... Thick aluminum, beautiful finish, precise fit and made in Germany!

"I like my tweeter pods, like I like my women..." ;)

That is tight man, nice job. How do they sound?

Thanks man! It sounds really good. I played around with the aiming and this seems to be the best sounding position so far... They are a little more off axis compared to before, and the stage is deeper at this angle. :)

Here is what I just finished in a Mazda Cx-3. AudioFrog, Zapco, JL, etc.. I built the box from 3/4" birch void free plywood. Tweeter pods are made from pvc plumbing parts, with an aluminum base, wrapped in vinyl to match the dash. Amp rack is 1/4" perforated aluminum with a frosted plexiglass backing. All power and speaker cables are Knu Konceptz ofc, and rcas are Stinger 8000 series. Pretty well sound deadened with Soundskins CLD/CCF combo, Second Skin Luxury Liner Pro, Knukonceptz Kno Knoise CLD, Dynamat CCF and some generic eggcrate acoustic ****... ;)
