So I have an 88 D150 I've decided to worry more about gearing than power for now, eventually truck will have a 360 in it I'm wanting 300whp and 375ft-lbs, just curious what would be a good transmission for that and one that will still be fine with my current 318, I'm thinking about pulling the rear end out of a newer ram as well for disk brakes

i don't know if the rear end out of a newer truck will bolt in. i think you need to move the leaf spring perches and get new rims since the newer axles are wider.

do you know what transmission you currently got? if money is not an issue and you are going to use it as a cruiser/toy then i would go with a 46RH. if it is just going to be a toy i would go with a 36RH(727). they are pretty much the same transmission except 1 has overdrive which makes them a bit more expensive than the one without overdrive.

Pretty sure it's the 727 3 speed automatic, I was wanting of to help with gas a little bit, but the truck is definitely geared for highway, seems to get awesome mileage on the highway way (got 400miles to the tank) so was thinking with OD it would be even better especially in town

I was also wanting to get 20's off a newer dodge ran but wasn't sure if they would fit on my truck since the center bore seems bigger on mine truck is going to be a cruiser/show truck

around town the fuel mileage would be about the same between the 727 and 46RH since they are pretty much the same. the 46RH would do a lot better on the highway than the 727 would tho. my 93 would do about 14-16 mpg on the regular basis where my 81 would get about 10-12mpg doing the same driving. if i slowed down my 81 might have been able to get the same average mileage as my 93 but then again if i drove my 93 at those same speed i could probably get 18mpg.

a 727 would do just fine for the 360 tho.

the hubs on the front are larger. i think you would need spacers to make them work but not 100% sure on that
