And they're already blacked inside.... I paid about 26 a piece for my lkq picks. So nearly 1/3 what you did? Should I take them back, or are deals like the one you got rare? I want 06's by the way. I wanna turn the bottom reflector into a switchback DRL.

Id like to see what ones you got, if you like the lights that you have then id restore them with a good clear coat, the clearcoat on aftermarket lights is very thin and weak, if you dont wax them very often then the clear coat will fail, i have a set now that i waxed weekly and added paint swalant weekly and the clear has failed on both of em, so yeah ebay lights are cheaper but the quality is not as good as doing a restore yourself with a good clear coat, not a cheap rattle can

These are it. Looking at them with my l9w power shop light, they seem less yellowed than I thought and more just hazy.

ChrisFix did his restore with rattle-clear. I can't really afford a spray gun, compressor, and pro quality clearcoat rigjt now, of my LKQ headlight and grill grab weren't obvious enough..... f955173a94b897dabbb3241ab51b87b5.jpgac3c52278a7d8923fe5ce61eae1e457f.jpg835600a703863aee46e0f16af27fa167.jpg19ed78e716d435a67e857a0bfa2ba96e.jpg043092206b82961879d942f18d8cc10f.jpg

No, I said I liked the blacked out insides, and that I wanted to have my headlights like that.

Either way. What do you think? Restore these with wetsand and good rattle-clear, or return them, snag the fenders, wait to earn more cash, and order new from ebay?

Also, should I take them apart and do the inner prep {blackout, reflector 'delete', trimming, etc} before or after I restore them?

So the ***** clear on the aftermarket stock replacement heads isn't that much of a concern? Could/should I just give it a few extra layers and buff it out correctly for added protection?

You can get basic aftermarket black headlights on ebay for $110 +\-

Get what you want and if/when the clear peels, re clear those, the oem fenders used and in good shape are harder to come by

Alright. I'll be at LKQ this weekend to swap out. Right after I fix my brake lights. Both went out today for some reason, only the third brake light still works. The rest of the stuff in the tails works, though. Running light, reverse, blinkers, hazards. Just the actual braking activated lights are out.

Think it's just a matter of taking the bulbs out and greasing them like what happened with my front driver turn signal a few months ago? Or could the harness be bad or something? Can hitting a large amount of water at speed cause this? Could it have cut/knocked something loose?

2003 Ram build thread

I would suggest asking these questions in a thread in the lighting section. It would help keep this thread on subject

Right, sorry. Why'd you go with a 4g tailgate on your truck? And have you figured out a solution to the vent grills? Because I just broke one of mine, yesterday...

No problem, I don’t mind answering questions at all, but to get the best answers on big questions it’s best to ask in a new thread. You’ll get more people answering because not everyone will be checking a build thread as often.
I love the look of the tailgate, it’s one of my favorite mods. I found it in the exact same color as my truck, rust free for $200. Absolute steal so I jumped on it. My old gate was really rusted out so I needed a new one.
I haven’t figured out my grille yet, I haven’t really done much with the grille. I’m debating about a new grill, ordering new inserts or going junkyard shopping when I have some extra time.

Gutter guard grill is what I'm planning on doing to my facelift project. I might even cut out the crosshairs and make it completely "mesh" like that.

I tried looking up the gutter guard diy posts but they were so old all the pictures had disappeared or were on photobucket so they were gone.

Look em up on google images. There's a blue pre-facelift 3rd gen that just looks amazing.

Adding some filler for the imperfections on the manifold. If this sands up decent I may go ahead and paint it tonight

And just a tiny sneak peak of the headlight project.....Don’t want to spoil it too much! 78549b9e26bfce656baf97f141df736f.jpg

Here’s one more project to add to the to-do list when I replace the engine. Picked up a hydro booster off a 06 cummins, I saw it done on a few trucks so I’m gonna try it out. Supposedly gets better braking power and gets rid of the huge vacuum canister that’s in the way of the rear plugs. Got it for $65 at a junkyard, can’t wait to try it out! 34b57cbd37c6f0d83fad08fc9e0fec6f.jpg
