Just curious on how hard this job is going to be or should I have it done .
I am by no means a diesel mechanic but I know the gas engine pretty well .

What all does this consist of ? I will be going from stock injectors to RV275 or +50's .

Michael have you had any luck having a set scaled and flowed? Theres a local diesel shop that will do just about and diesel injectors for not alot of money.

No... Sorry... I don't have the stuff for doing that at all. For me its 2.5 hour ride to Lewiston, ID to a injection shop to get the stuff done.

The whole trick is keeping everything clean and sealing problems should occur. So get a can of engine degreaser and wash the engine down good and trhen get working after it dries.

How are the Ctds primed stock? With an aftermarket lift pump that would do the priming to get the injectors and pump fed but how it it done stock on these trucks? Also would he have to crack the lines to burp out the air or is that not serious enough of an issue to be done? when I have done injectors on equipment I know I have had to crack the main line for the pump then the feed lines for the injectors also.

Typically you crack 1,3,4 to bleed the lines out. Tighten them down and fire it up.

wel dave i forgot you had this page. i just changed my injectors out last weekend and you are chicken chit if you dont do it your self. it is quite easy. you dont need a spark plug wrench they just pop out. i was surprised at how easy it was. you get her opened up and do #! and just repeat. mike has a good point on the cleaning though. i sprayed my down pretty heavy before i took a bolt out of anything.

obviously hes already done it as truck is sold but yeah, take VC off, take lines and X tubes out, use valve cover bolt to pop old injectors out, use same bolt to pop new in...i did all 6 of mine is about 45min to an hour. Hardest part was # 6 line, tube and injector popping back in.
