I've been doing some research regarding the legalities of building a hood stack for my '92 D350. Seems Idaho law says its ok, so long as the exhaust gases exit above the cab. An ISP who pulled me over for going too fast(me...going too fast? Who da thunk it ROFL) said he did not know of any law prohibiting a hood stack in Idaho. His concern was mainly visual obstruction. So, with those thoughts in mind, I'm working on a hood stack for my rig. I'll post pics as I make progress.

I'm using 4" exhaust pipe bought from NAPA. This is a pic of the segments I cut off of the pipe.

I wouldn't want to deal with it even if it was legal, your more then likely going to get pulled over quite a few times, get annoyed with being pulled over an then you have a hole in your hood lol

I've considered that, believe me. If I keep getting pulled over due to the stack, I'll install a cowl induction style hood scoop. Its all good :)

I have a couple pics of the truck when I bought it for a measly $500.

Here it has to exit behind the cab so good stacks grab a little more attention then regular stacks haha
Looks like you got a fun project!

I had to add a thinner segment to the elbow to get it close to 90 degrees. I'm about 1-1.5 degrees off from 90. My 9" side grinder will take care of this issue XD

This is what the elbow looks like after smoothing out the welds.

BTW, I want to give a shout out to ramhunter9, the owner of this forum. He is a really good guy to deal with, and very knowledgeable. His truck would simply blow the doors off mine easily XD.

Trust me its a mean truck too for a 1992 Dodge 1 Ton with a 12V VE pump. I've helped out with most of whats under the hood... :naughty:

very cool, are you going to turn it to the fender or forward or what?? why did you make it so low profile, wouldn't you want it a little taller so it went over the cab. I would think soot would be a issue on the windshield. not hatin just askin

I still need to add 2-2 1/2 ft of pipe to the elbow so it will stick out of the hood :). I need to machine up a flange for one end of the elbow to attach to the turbo.
