ok so I've had my truck for almost 2 weeks and already put in bilstein 5100 set to max 2.8 and a flow master super 40. I'm looking at a vera ram intake and a 87mm ported throttle body also. but my truck has the open diff so i have a lsd on the way and from what i hear 4.56's show the biggest improvement. so my question is what will i need to switch to the 4.56 gears and what other mods should i be looking at to go faster. :peace:

You're gonna need a whole front axle from a 2011 or older truck to get 4.56s on the front.
The rear LSD will also need to be machined to fit the old bolt pattern of the 4.56s.

A new front axle. You can't just swap out the gear set on the front diff like older years, it'll require an older front diff to be swapped into the front to run 4.56s. The largest you can get in a factory front is 4.10s.

Unless you are ready to spend $3500 on the gear swap, I would go with the longtubes, custom tune and tq converter. Do these 3 before the intake and throttle body if your funds allow.

What gearing did you get from the factory? Should have gotten 3.92 with the lsd. Research research research before you walk into the dealer. Know what truck you want and why. Don't worry, I am not hating on you, took me three times to learn that from previous truck purchases. The 3.92 is a 50$ option and I am sure the LSD is not far off that too.

Unless you have plenty of $$$$$ then you have to work with what you got.

i have the 3.55 gears with the open diff but want lsd because one tire fire is pretty embarrassing. but I'm trying not to void my warrantee quite yet. and for headers i have no clue what to go with as there are so many to pick from so if you could point me in a good direction

Matt, what kind of gains do you get with long tubes and what's the cost?

Jsta, do yourself a favor, and educate yourself on the factory "Anti Spin" and the Detroit True Track, and what to expect from each, and the cost of installation. The Anti Spin does ok once you learn its limitations. Heck, even I can do a nice smokey dual burn out now!

If it's a 14, then you have the 8 speed, right? You 8 speed guys have a really nice low first gear, so I'd do what Matt says. If it was a 5 or 6 speed, I'd be screaming gears. And the lower, the better in those.

Longtubes are putting out about 25hp/tq to the wheels. I have a handful of customers now that have dyno'd gains of 60hp/65tq from just longtubes and a Hemifever tune. We are seeing similar gains from both ARH and JBA. The ARH setup is more complete, and I like the option of running the 1 3/4" primaries to get more tq for daily driving...also, the option to run high flow cats is a necessity for most states. The 1 7/8" primaries on the JBA's are nice if you have gears and a converter to make up for the lack of tq down low though.

Stainless JBA's with off road y-pipe is $833, ceramic coated JBA's with off road y-pipe is $978, and stainless ARH with cats is $1665 for the 1 3/4" primaries.

I'm just looking for a lsd that will get rid of the one tire fire and looking for extra hp cause I'm getting a 6 inch lift this summer. so I'm guessing my best bet right now is lsd, long tubes and a tc with gears and tune in the near future. by the way truck is a 2014 express with the 6 speed and a 3.55 open diff
