what kind of trailers?

have you ever thought it was to much drop or not enough?

also< have you ever used the "bathroom scale" and 2x4 method to measure tongue weight?

I just bought a weigh-safe for my 1500, 2" receiver and 10" drop. With my lift, I needed that much drop to get the utility trailer I have to sit level when loaded.

Now, I'm not sure how much weight your gonna be hauling but you may need a WDH.

Rockwood camp trailer, gives me a level setup. It's a weight distribution hitch, so not same setup as a plain drop hitch..

ok thanks for the help guys

I dont need a weight distribution hitch for what I have/plan on towing so I will probably get an adjustable ball mount that can go down to 9" or 10" to suit my 12,500 GTW.

EDIT: if i ever really need to tow 12,500 i will get a WDH

How much weight are you planning on towing? my trailer is only 7500 lbs and 32' long and I needed a WDH. I tried at first without the WDH and it wasnt fun. glad I have it now. I also use a pretty big drop for my truck, 18" I believe. but I have to use the 2" adapter. The drop shank is rated for 15K.

dont plan on pulling a trailer that is more than 5,000 and it will only be a distance of 20-30 miles or less. thats why the drop length is most important for me right now.

This is a common problem on BP Horse Trailers which tend to have a low deck. We run a 9" drop with narry a problem.
