I have a 2015 2500 5.7 with 4.10s, leveled on 35s. Coming from a 2012 1500 5.7 with 3.55s, 5" lift on 35s, the truck pulls what I ask of it like a champ (4-11k lbs) f9b119d9660dc229af1abe64586db996.jpg1e011dfc8554b2cfcd9a29e80b936c9c.jpg

It's going to depend a lot on the 5th wheel!

Well were looking to be around the 14-15k max fingers crossed I mean at worse case scenario will put air bags. Trailer won't be pulled all the time maybe once a month or so.

Where can I find for sure numbers cause when I searched last night. I found an 2010-2013 with 4.10 could pull 14k

And a 14-up 4.10 could only pull 13,510.

I never pull more than another 3/4 pickup on a flatbed (~11k) anymore than 13, I'd look at the 6.4 if not the Cummins.

If you're towing that heavy of a load once a month, consider the Cummins. That's a decent load fairly frequently. I wanted a cummins just cause, hey, a cummins! But my round trip to work is 9 miles. No bueno for a cummins, unfortunately. Looked at the 6.4, but got a 5.7 and haven't regretted it one bit. But my needs sound lighter than yours.

Yeah looking at gas mainly due to the fact, that the diesels pull in a premium price tag. But also for the fact again not pulling everyday and it will be my daily driver truck

looks like a 2012 with 4.10s is rated at 13,500

I hear you on the price tag. Why I got the 5.7 over the 6.4. Also buying used I got a banging deal on it. Well sounds like you need a little more than the 5.7 can pull. But the 6.4 is only in new trucks. Perhaps another 5.7 2500 owner will chime in who's towed 12/13k loads. Are you driving on any hills?

Honestly just depends I travel for work most work is down south, but sometimes have to go to Oklahoma or places with some hills.

I towed my buddies Cummins through some hills here in Oregon. Trailer weight was just over 11k. On the inclines she downshifts and revs up to keep speed. Still pulls, but works for it. Nothing the Hemi can't take, but wouldn't want to pull that much through hills like that too often

Here's the rub, those are MAX. Everything beyond a full tank of gas and 300lbs for driver and passenger is going against that tow rating. My truck is 750lbs over door sticker weight with my small family and crap we pack along. Don't forget, the weight of the hitch counts against you too

15-20% of that camper weight will be on the pin, overloading your coil suspension.

Then you need to consider frontal area. A tall and wide camper will tow a lot harder than flatbed with pipe.

Is that 14-15k unladen weight or gross? 100 gallons of water weighs 836lbs.

If you care to look, many RV enthusiasts will recommend having 20% cushion on towing numbers. As you get moved in and fill out the stuff you need or want to take with the weights really start to add up. I maxed out my 2500 6.4l with a toy hauler that has a brochure empty weight of 8300. First trip I was about had 1000 lbs to spare on GCWR, last trip with it I scaled right at my gross. We had added that much stuff.

Will it pull 14-15k? You bet. But it isn't going to like it and you likely won't either. It will constantly shift down, probably run in 4th on flat, and get terrible economy.

IMO, you are firmly in diesel territory looking at 14-15k campers.
