I have been looking to buy an enclosed trailer for quite sometime. I was looking to get a 20 ft but I have a chance to buy ya really nice 24ft with 6 bolt wheels at an awesome price. I am wondering if my ram will pull it ok. My truck has the 5.7 with 3.92 gears and I will have the airbags in the rear with a weight distribution hitch with a good trailer brake controller. I plan to haul our atvs which will range from 650lbs to 2000lbs depending on how many we take. I will mostly be making short trips ranging from 20 min to 1.5 hrs. Then we make 2 or so trips that are about a 7 hour drive.

Will my truck pull it ok? Will I be fine as long as I change my fluids regularly?

Anyone with experience pulling a 24ft with a truck like mine?

Thank you in advance for the help.

I believe it's around 3000 lbs and 6'6 inside height but I do not know overall height.

I have a 16ft enclosed with a 5 foot V-nose so total length of 21 feet. My truck hails it fine with 3 sleds in it. uploadfromtaptalk1390149991483.jpg

I dont see why you couldnt haul it, we have a 29 foot travel trailer that weights in about 6700 dry, If you keep the weight level right you should tow just fine. Your not going to win any races .

If your quads are only 2K + 3K for the trailer you'll be fine. Like stated above you won't win any races but many of use pull longer, heavier loads with similarly equipped trucks. (my trailer is 32' and 7K lbs loaded)

I have a 28 foot travel trailer that weighs around 5500 lbs along with the weight distribution bars, hitch and sway bar. I also have the 3.92 gears. Plus I usually have 200-300 lbs in the bed of the truck. The truck pulls all of that with no problem.

I have a 2012 1500 quad cab with the hemi & 3.92 gears & I pull a 24ft. V nose enclosed trailer that holds a 3400 lb. car, scooter, fuel, tools, etc. Total weight is about 8500lbs. I have weight distributing hitch, brake controller, & air lift air bags. The truck pulls it with power to spare. It pulled it without the air bags but it squatted more than I wanted it to.

I have an 2011 1500 QC 4x4 3.92. 30 ft 7L lb+ trailer is no problem. Responding for a different reason. I would suggest the 24 ft trailer and a dual axel. The additional length should offer better stability over the 20 ft length.

Pay close attention to getting the load balance correct. Estimate the total weight using the trailer spec and the ATV specs. You want 10% of the weight on the hitch. Once you get the proper balance I would mark the loading spots with paint, angle iron stops....

We pull a 24' fifth wheel with our 2013 1500 crew cab with the 3.92. (6800 lbs dry) and it pulls without hesitation. We have also occasionally pulled our dump trailer with over 9000 pounds but I wouldn't recommend that on a regular basis. Truck had plenty of power to pull, still legal, but you could definitely tell you had a load behind.

I just bought a 24' enclosed with a 5' vnose with ramp in it. I haul sleds in it now and will be hauling a car and equipment this summer. My truck (2011 Ram 1500 QC Laramie) has the 3.55 gears. With any hill its tough to keep it around 65-70 MPH in 5th gear (around 1700 RPM's). I am really thinking about doing a 3.92 gear swap. It always wants to down shift into 4th gear with any type of hill. I live in Central NY (very hilly). I also have the Air Lift 1000's installed. Helps alot with the rear squatting.

20months ago I bought a 24' enclosed. Loaded it weighs 7000lbs, but it's flat for hundreds of miles here so the issue is aero drag not weight. When I first bought the trailer I had a '06 F-150 5.4l. It's engine was overwhelmed by the aero drag and mpg dropped to 7. I ended up getting a F-250 diesel that got 12.5mpg pulling the same load.

Your truck should carry the load of your trailer fine. Be prepared for your mileage to suck tho.

Yep will pull just fine but like stated your mileage is going to take a hit. I pull a 7x16 v-nose all aluminum and my mileage still stinks with it hooked to my ram. Sometimes I really miss my oil burner !

Aero drag is proportional to the cube of velocity. That means the drag goes up a helova lot faster than speed. If I go 4% faster, 65-70mph, my gas mileage drops by prob close to 20%, 12.5 to ~10.5-11mpg.

So what did you get OP? I wish I would have seen this earlier my advice would be length 24ft is no problem but get 7ft wide not 8ft. I have towed both and I love the 7ft you can see so much better what is going on behind you. I don't have extending tow mirrors just the tow mirrors that cannot be extended.
