I just purchased a 2112 Ram 4x4 Reg cab 8ft bed with P275/60R20 BSW All Season tires. (Came with the package deal). Truck has 3:55 anti spin option.
Do these tires lower the 8500# tow limits set by dodge?
I may pull a 7500# (loaded horse trailer) on the rare occasion my F250 breaks down. Generally I would be pulling a 3000# boat.

Tow rating is based on your gears. 3.92's have the 10,000 lb rating.

You dont need to worry about the 20's unless your going to exceed the rated towing/static load for your reciever by going to an aftermarket set-up.

Even the 20's are rated for around 2600lb each with the truck at around 6100 lb.

With that being said if I towed on any regular basis, load range E 17's would be on mine.

Thanks for info to all.
Its just a piece of mind thing with the 20's. Never owned them.
I run e rated 17's on my F-250 which is a 460 with 4:11 (which gives me 7 mpg) .

Not to be that guy but the rating has other factors when they decide the rating.

-The transfer case such as with 4WD auto is rated slightly less than 4WD case without auto 4WD option.

-Gears 3.21, 3.55, 3.92

-The tires that come on a 1500 are only P series tires so they really are not very great for towing.

If you go to the website there is a configuration wizard that allows you to see what things change the rating.

I am sure you can tow more that 10000 lbs but it would not be legal :)

Max tow is 8,750 for your truck but with 17's according to the ram website. They don't list the weight for 20's though. I believe 7,500 should be perfectly fine

Only wheels that supposedly really lower the tow rating are the forged 22s on the R/T

Did you know any change to your gas mileage with the tire change?
