I am looking at buying a 15' Limited and am leaning toward 3.92 Most of my miles will be empty on single lane highway, 55-65 mph. When I do tow it will be about 5-7,000. lbs and about 10-15% of total miles driven. Who has this combo and how do you find it as a daily driver?
Thanks
I have a '14 Outdoorsman with the 3:92 rear end and the 8 spd tranny.
My trailer is a 27' hard sided travel trailer, in the weight range you're asking about.
I've driven on paved roads, gravel roads, dirt roads, and all around ****** roads, and have been very happy with the way the truck rides and drives in all conditions.
Both with and without the trailer.
That Limited you're asking about will have slightly lighter suspension, so you'll probably get an even smoother ride unloaded than I do.
Just watch your tongue weight.
Having recently done about a 4,000km trip across the country on paved highway, I couldn't be happier. The truck is a dream to drive.
A little more road noise than your average luxury car, but hey, it is a truck after all.
Just one comment about towing.
Depending on your max. tongue weight, you may want to check and see which tires that Limited comes with. Some Rams came with P rated Wranglers and some came with LT Wranglers.
The LT's are 10 ply tires, and will give you a slightly rougher ride, but I'd recommend them if you start pushing that 6k-7k weight range on your trailer.
**EDIT**
I see now this was a 2 year old post that was revived. Glad to see you're happy with your truck!
