What are the pros and cons of the air lift 1000 air bags for a ram 1500? Mainly looking for support when towing, which I do only about 5 weekends a year.

I bought Timber Grove instead of the Airlift bags, and plan to install soon. More expensive by far, but from my extensive research I hope worth it. Easier to install (they replace the bump stops and don’t go inside the springs), easier to adjust when the trailer is attached. I’ve also read about cold weather problems with the cheaper bags and some failure to hold air.

I put the air lift 1000s in my 2015 ED. Took about 2 hours taking my time. I pull a 6500lb travel trailer and with the trailer connected adding air from about 7lbs to 30lbs lifts the back about 1.5 inches up. The truck also seems a little more stable cornering as well.

It seems many inflate after adding weight, but I’ll just point out that the instructions say the opposite. Page 9, Operating Tips:

“Inflate your air springs to 30 PSI (2.1BAR) before adding the payload. This will allow the air cylinder to properly mesh with the coil spring. After the vehicle is loaded, adjust your air pressure down to level the vehicle and for ride comfort.”

Came to this section of the forums to research these bags. Not sure if I'll get an answer here or in the Lifted section.

Has anyone installed these Air Lift 1000 bags in a BDS / Zone lifted truck with the 5" spring option? I saw a YouTube video of someone doing the kit in his truck, but am wondering if someone here has used a universal application that Air Lift sells for a longer bag to fit in the longer spring.

I know this is ancient history but... ihave the 1000s from airlift installed and they kinda squeak over bumps when inflated and not loaded. Only con. Install was easy. Drop the damn sway bar, it lets you get in the springs way better. Consider the 1500lb black ones, they're $30 more and the bags are way thicker.

I bought the 1000s. I purchased them on Amazon. I haven't yet installed them, so I don't know how difficult they are to do. Here in Pa. the weather is too cold now to worry about doing it until better weather. My buddy also got the same ones and he's waiting to install his too. If anybody has any tips on doing it, let me know.

I've installed the Air Lift bags in both Ram 1500's I have had. They are easy to do. The way I did it was to list the rear axle with the floor jack up high enough to put the jack stands under the frame in front of the axle. Then, let the axle droop down enough to get the coil springs out. When you put everything back together, ensure the inflation tube is clear and won't get pinched. Then, check it again. After lowering it down, check the tubes one more time.

It is really easy to do, otherwise.
