New to the truck, 2 days to be exact, just messing around with it still. On the 2013's I think the trailer brake controller should be by the climate control in the center console... if this is the case I do not have it. However when flipping through the display options I do have the display for the brakes and trailer tow hours as well.

So, just wanted to confirm I do not have the brake controller.

If that's the case how hard is it to add one one after the fact?

My guess is you don't have it if you can't see it. I say this because unless something has drastically changed, all break controllers should have a lever to manually apply the trailer brakes.

A) That's a very odd placement for a brake controller
B) It has a good size display and thumb lever; it would be difficult to miss

On my 2012, the controller is in front of the drivers left knee. Or in the lower left part of the dash. Hard to miss if you have one.

Yes, in the 2013 it IS in the center stack, lower left right above the center console in front of the 6 speed shifter.

Since ram still offers manual transmissions it is foolish to locate the controller on the same hand as the shifter. I am surprised they moved it.

Would you ever have both hands off the steering wheel, left hand on the trailer brake at the same time as shifting gears with the right hand? Seems like close to the shifter would be better and allow you to get to both more easily without changing hands on the wheel.

I wish mine were in the center console. No other reason other than I would just rather have it there.......

My 2013 is the same way. The EVIC has the trailer brake gain but I definitely don't have the brake controller installed. Maybe when I add it I won't need my EVIC flashed.

Having the brake gain in the EVIC means that your vehicle is ready and equipped to receive the gain controller. Yes it is located in the center console. I have read several threads about people not liking this integrated controller. I too did not like it then I changed my setting from light electric to heavy electric and it works beautifully now. I had a prodigy P3 and I like my integrated better as the control is observed on the EVIC. I don't have to look down to see the controller. Don't get me wrong I like my P3 but this is an upgrade for me.

Fwiw, mine showed on the screen too before I had it installed. To me it is in a good place. Pic of the location just ahead of the shifter.
