I went to get our travel trailer and I guess I didn't realize how much higher my 2500 is than the old truck. The hitch is too high. Is the simple fix to have a RV dealer lower it to the correct level? I apologize in advance for my ignorance ...

Drop hitch! If you know how much drop you need and dont need an adjustable it will be cheaper. There is a fairly cheap adjustable reese I have seen, like 40-45 bucks, I think it is only good for 5k pounds.

Well I have the WD hitch with the sway bars. Drop hitch pretty much out of question?

You just need a drop receiver shank. You will put the head on the new shank. I had the same problem when I traded so I picked up a Curt 2.5" drop (CURT Manufacturing - CURT Weight Distribution Shank #17128) shank to get everything at the right level. Jegs has it for like $99. Etrailer.com has a lot of choices and Q&A, but you will get a lot of good advice here as well. However, we can explain it, but YouTube videos often make more sense by being able to see a visual!

Your shank probably has a couple lower holes than you're mounted in. If so, it'll just be moving the head down.
If not, all you need is a shank with more drop. My 2500 has a Class V receiver, so I bought a 2.5" drop shank with 6" drop. I hate the slop with an adapter.

I know it costs more, but I recommend buying a new shank for the 2.5" receiver. I had mine lowered when I bought the truck. Had the dealer do it for me. I wasn't happy using the spacer and spent the money on a new shank a month later.
