I'm factory building a 4x4 Sport Night Edition and am curious if there is any additional benefits from paying $475 from factory or just add a Curt IV for under $200?

I like the idea of a bolt on because I don't tow too much or too heavy. Also I can replace it if/when it starts to rust.

I'm adding the 3.92, but not the trailer brake control. Good or bad idea???

Nothing wrong with after market hitch. My 07 Titan didn't have one and I installed one myself. Worked great for the 8 years I had the truck. My 2015 1500 came with a factory hitch and plugs.

I'd rather have the brake controller and not need it, then need it, and not have it..

If your picking out the options for a new truck you going to order, get the hitch and brake controller.

Agreed with crash. Get the hd tow package if your ordering. Especially the itbc. Mine works great. Good luck

should have mentioned in my prior post. If you want power fold in mirrors, the factory tow mirrors are not power fold. I think it'***** or miss for people to successfully add the factory power fold mirrors after the fact.

I won't be getting the tow package as I don't want the mirrors. Everything becomes an individual add on.

I guess my question is, is $500 worth it for the factory hitch when I could put one on after for just over 100

If you're talking just the hitch receiver and that's all, forget the brake control, mirrors, etc, just the hunk of metal, then I'd go aftermarket. much cheaper than dealer/factory order price.

I put a Curt 2 inch class V on my last ram, no issues. I've always had aftermarket, quality brand, hitches on all of my previous trucks. never an issue and I did it mainly for cost savings.

The integrated brake controller, hitch, and pre-wired trailer plugs are worth it.

Nothing wrong with the aftermarket hitch from a function stand point. The factory hitch is alot cleaner it's tucked up real nice. The Curt class 3/4 has a big bolt that goes though the ball hole in the bumper and the full replacements 4/5 hang down below the bumper personally I dont like the way it look. But you won't have any functional issues.

The factory hitch is just over $100 if I remember correctly and takes about 20 minutes to install. All you need are sockets and a torque wrench. If the 2017s are the same as the 2016s ( which they should be) they are all factory wired for 4 and 7 pin harnesses.

The dealership wanted to charge me for 2+ hours of work to install my hitch, and I did it myself. The longest part of it is lowering the spare tire.

Are you talking about ones like the Curt 1333? If so they tuck up nice the only way you can tell they aren't factory is there is a large bolt that goes though the factory ball mount hole in the bumper into the top of the hitch. They are class 3/4. They are class 3 on the ball a d class 4 with weight distribution hitch.

Ya, those (Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch).

I was curious if they all stay the same height and stick out the same, or if there are differences. I guess I could contact eTrailer instead of bugging everyone.

Thx.
