I made my first trip with my new 2500. I came from a tuned ecoboost and they are def. different. some pluses for the ram were mainly in the handling department. The engine did run great and pulls good in 5th downshifting to 4th, tow haul was really only worth it in town when stopping and going at 60 and above it wanted to stay in 4th to much wasting gas. but i was happy 10.6 mpg on the way there which is pretty much the same as the ecoboost.

What hitch are you using? It looks very small.

How much does the trailer weight?

the anderson works real good, sway is pretty much zero. you and trailer move together and it is much less bouncy than spring bars.

When I went to my 6.4 2500 from a 2500 Duramax the improvement with the coil springs on the Ram vs the leafs with the Chevy was amazing. The handling in corners is just so much more stable as opposed to the bouncy leafs.

As time moves on and I only tow with the coils it's tough to really remember the other truck but I'm sure hesitant to go back to leaf springs. I suppose as a daily driver the coils may be better too but both basically suck. That's just life with an HD truck. It's never going to ride like a Cadillac.

Congrats on the new ride.... the jump from a 1500 to an HD is a HUGE upgrade in the overall towing experience.

I towed my TT for the first time last weekend after having a 1.2 ton as well. I had a Tundra with the 5.7L before, so power wise my 6.4 feels basically the same. Tundra had 4.30 rear and Ram has 4.10s. However, the braking and overall handling with the Ram 2500 is amazing, even with air bags on the Tundra it just didn't compare.

I wish I had a bit more bottom end with the 6.4 as my trailer is 7800 lbs empty, but it got the job done. And when unloaded, which is 95% of the time, I love the 6.4L and the 4.10 gearing. It's a blast to drive.

i really would have liked 4.10s as well, but i looked over pages and pages of trucks in texas and couldnt find any that werent power wagon. but i am getting some great highway mileage between 65 and 70.

I got lucky and found mine a couple hundred miles away so my dealer went and got it for me. Had it here the next day and didn't even charge me. Then again, I have employee pricing so maybe they couldn't charge a delivery? Anyway, I drove one with the 3.73 as well and both are awesome trucks, especially for just driving around empty.

What kind of highway and daily driving mileage are you seeing with the 6.4

I took mine on a trip from WV to Chicago when it had around only 2000 miles on it and averaged between 16-17 mpg. Towing is around 9ish probably, but my TT weighs well over 8000 lbs, close to 9000 loaded up. Around town I'm probably around 12-13 mpg maybe. I don't drive often as I have a gov't vehicle for work commutes.

I am not much different than my Tundra 5.7 (4.30 rear) that I had before the RAM.
