I bought a 2014 1500 4x4 Crew Cab Hemi about a month ago. I just used it for it's first tow. I drove from Central Oregon down to Los Angeles, picked up a U-Haul car carrier and towed a family car home to Oregon. I started the trip with about 1,250 miles on the odometer and did a quick first oil change before I left.
I averaged about 70 mph and 19.5 mpg down to L.A. I made that 840 mile leg in about 12 hours.
I averaged about 60 mph and 13.9 mpg on the way home. I made the return trip in about 14.5 hours.
The return trip has a couple of fairly long steep grades: the first being the Grapevine just north of L.A. and the second form Redding, Ca. to Weed, Ca. near Mt. Shasta.
The truck ran perfectly! I monitored the temps via the EVIC and they barely moved from start to finish, a slight bump on the grades but nothing severe.
All in all, I was very impressed with the performance and mileage on this trip.
