Hello...new guy here. I'm looking into purchasing a preowned RAM 1500 or 2500. In doing research I found some data that's confusing. A 2013 RAM 2500 4x4 shortbed crewcab Hemi (4.10 gears) can pull up to 13,550. The 2013 2500 Power Wagon 4x4 Hemi (4.56 gears) can pull up to 10,250. Why the lower tow rating with the Power Wagon? A RAM 1500 4x4 Hemi crewcab shortbed (3.92 gears) can pull up to 10,050. Only a slight difference from it's big brother Power Wagon. I got this info from a towing magazine. Is this accurate? Thanks! Todd

The Power Wagon probably weighs a ton more than a normal 2500, which affects payload (hence tow capacity)

This- and the Power Wagon has some additional goodies for offroad use that are awesome off pavement, not so good for towing. Locking axles come to mind. LS are better for towing than lockers are for sure. Suspension I think is a little more forgiving for offroad play too. The winch assembly, skid plates, all that pulls from the available payload and towing cap.

As stated above.

The Power Wagon is designed more for "rock crawling" and not as much for towing.
