help with trailer brake wiring

i had a curt venture brake controller, and i just bought a Prodigy P3 controller
the harness i have does not fit the P3 ,can i just cut off the ends and wire color for color? will that work?

or should i just buy a harness for the P3 for my truck?

Splicing would work, but I don't know if the wire colors match. I have a Prodigy P2 from my old truck, but I decided to just buy the Ram harness for the prodigy when I switched it over to the Ram.

Unless, you're in a rush, the proper adapter cable is the way I would go. It's pretty cheap. I think I paid around $12-14 online from etrailer.

I woud get the adapter personally. Even better get the factory integrated one because it looks amazing and from my experience works awesome too.

If you had an aftermarket brake controller in their already, you should have no issues going color for color.

Just please please solder and heat shrink the connections.
Certainly not twist connectors or similar.

yeah i have a curt venture in my truck now i have the harness that plugs in my truck under dash and into the brake controller, but it wont plug into the P3 controller.

i think im just gonna order the proper harness from etrailer.
