How much weight have you had in the bed?

I have a 2014 Ram 1500 4x4 and plan to put 940# in the bed (big 3-point chipper). Just wonder how much you all have had in the back and what to expect? I suppose I should place centered over rear axle but I do need to pull it out. the chippers skid is 35" wide x 45" long so it will fit fine.

Thanks,
Bill

You'll be fine it'll squat some I had about 1200 lbs of quick Crete and lumber in my truck and it squated some but wasn't riding on the stops, the farther in the better but you'll be ok.

Goodness, that's nothing. You should see some of the stuff I see in and attached to these trucks- and I am guilty of a lot of that. Hell, you'll be fine. It'll squat a bit.

I've had 1300lbs of lumber in the bed - a bit overloaded. It squatted some but was fine.

Thanks for making me feel better. I have had some heavy loads of wood and block when building a deck. I know that was heavy BUT I never knew the actual weight. Knowing the actual weight had my mind wandering. Ha

Not sure how much it was but I put a yard of pea gravel (one bobcat bucket full) in and it still ran like a champ.

I have the air suspension in my 1500 and hauled limestone from the quarry to my house one day, about 5 miles. Had 2051 lbs the first load and 1875-ish the second load. The air kept the truck level and it drove okay. Obviously wouldn't do this for a long distance but for a few miles it was fine.

You don't want to have more than 1200 punds if you go on a long trip.

I've had 1 ton of wood pellets a few times. Short 5 mile trips though. Wasn't on the bump stops but was close.
