I just bought a new 2012 18 foot hybrid trailer. I know I could tow a much larger trailer but this is all we need. Plus it's small enough to park in the driveway. We have been renting a hybrid for the past couple years at $1600 for 2 weeks so we figured we might as well spend that money on payments and then we can camp whenever the hell we want!!

The list price was $23,500 (the 2013's are $24,500) and I talked him down from his sale price of $20,900 to $18,250 with the hitch thrown in!! Apparently sales aren't too strong when it's snowing and freezing cold. LOL

When the beds are open, it's amazing how big the trailer is inside. The length becomes 28 feet.

This trailer has three beds that tip out which is great since my 14 year old daughter isn't enjoying sleeping with her 13 year old smelly brother any more. LOL

Here are some pictures.

Nice unit.
Despite our truck's ability to tow a lot of weight, length can be a real factor too; yours should tow like its not there. That will let you enjoy the drive to and from camping as well, which is worth something.

Unloaded it's 3360 lbs and the GVWR is 4400 lbs so it will tow real easy. The dry hitch weight is 410lbs. Should be good with the weight distribution hitch don't you think?

Can't wait for spring!!

With a WD hitch you'll be LAUGHING.
I got talked in to a 32' beast (35' overall) which is a near white-knuckle experience, and will be tiring to tow. You're a smart man.

That sounds like a 2500-size camper.

I have been a member since Nov 2012 traded in 2010 Jayco x213 for a 2013 Jayco 228BH. their forum is more trailer minded.

^THAT is a great idea. I can't tell you how many tips & pointers Ive received from the Keystone forum I frequent. From tools you may find helpful to tips & product ideas.

Nice choice , I agree you will build many memories that you can pull from over the years. We ran GNCC races for a number of years and I pulled a toy hauler for most of them and the memories are priceless. Life got in the way and the kids are growing up but we will always have the memories to draw on. Happy times to you and your fam !

Love our Jayco Jay Feather too.

Congrats on getting your new trailer. My wife and I bought a Jayco Jay Feather 197 2 years ago now and just love it. It is very similar to yours but with a dinette slider and a fixed bed, not the hybrid like yours. We are very happy with it and it fits us well; we don't need a lot either to be happy.
Our 2012 Ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.7l hemi tows it quite well and our trailer only weighs 4200 loaded. Between the weight distributing hitch, K&N air filter and intake and the Magnaflow muffler, we have plenty of power and can tow all day long at 65mph or more easily. I prefer to tow at 60mpg but the power is there to go faster. The trailer tows straight, level and true, no sway at all.
I am looking forward to getting a BullyDog Gt hemi tuner when I can afford it.
Enjoy your camping!
