Hi, ive got a 2016 CC 1500 Hemi5.7. Picking up a dual axle dump trailer tomorrow am to haul some gravel to the dump. Assuming trailer weighs 3000lbs? does anyone know if my truck will even be able to tow a loaded trailer of this size?

any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I really think you'll be just fine. How much gravel? Total weight?

It's not the popular answer, but for a short distance you can pull damn near anything and still get it there. Just make sure you leave yourself plenty of room, go slow, and don't drive the truck like a race car. If it's got trailer brakes, make sure they're hooked up. Use T/H mode and go. Leave plenty of stopping distance. Depending on gear ratio it may struggle or may not, but it's not going to self destruct.

It's a 3.21. With the trailer brakes though! I googled the weight of gravel and found 3700 lbs per cubic yard. max weight for 3.21 is around 8000lbs isnt it? I may have to make multiple trips....

You'll be fine. Just disable overdrive if you can and use the trailer brakes. I've pulled a lot more with a lot less.

How much are you realistilly hauling how many cubic yards? And how far? I think 8 sod 3.21 is like 7800-8300 can't remember. If you need multiple loads to be safe that's what it take but you'll be surprised at what your truck will handle for short distances.

A cubic yard of gravel is roughly a bit over a ton. I have had 8 cubic yards delivered in a truck with a capacity of 18,000lbs.

You still haven't answered the most important question, how far are you hauling the gravel? As long as it is a short distance with no highway or speed bumps I say go for it......most of us have been insanely stupid for short times and survived (it's the ones that walk around insanely stupid day in day out that create problems).

My first thought reading the title is depends how much you pay it. After reading your question, dunno! Let us know!
