What size of drop would you all recommend for my ball mount. My truck is a 2017 ram 1500 hemi 4x4. I will be installing a pro comp 6" lift soon so the rear will come up 3 inches from what I've read. From you all who have towed before with your 1500 I'm looking for a ball mount just wondering what size drop I would need in order for my trailer to be not to nose high but not to much going forward if you know what I mean. The trailer I will be using is a pj carhauler 20ft to haul my Polaris rzr around. It uses a 2 5/16 size ball. Hope this info helps.

Thank you

You know the drill, measure the trailer's hitch point from the ground when the trailer is sitting level.

I run a 10" drop hitch on my 3500 and tow my car hauler at an 8" drop. I think a 3" lift is going to put you close to where a 3500 sits. I run a Weightsafe drop hitch. Here is what the 8" drop looks like.

I'm running the Weigh-Safe 10" drop on my 1500 with 4" lift and 3" lift coils in the rear (basically the same rear on the 6/3 lifts). On my 5x10 single axle open utility trailer I have to run the full 10", on the 7x16 dual axle enclosed with 2 5/16 ball I believe I'm at 8".

Do yourself a favor, get the 10" drop!

All trailers are different, there is no standard ball height. you need to look up the trailer manufactures optimum ball height spec/recommendation. and then do the math. Then, if not using a WDH, you need to estimate how much more the truck is going to sag than the trailer when loaded.

That is if you want to be **** about it. Most here either have an adjustable mount or have a few different drop mounts and pick the one that fits best.

Get an adjustable 10" drop hitch. Most have an 11" rise as well.

I got mine from etrailer. Great outfit to do business with and they have a large selection to choose from.

Something easy to set at custom height is ideal for sure. I run the Shocker hitch made in Arthur, ND they have a website but I find the hitch to be amazing.

Thanks for the responses fellas...... I'll look into measureing as well as both type hitches but those adjustable ones are just pricey

What about something like this? I know it's not weigh safe brand but it's a curt and I've had curt in the past and it's been good to me. Rated at 14k I'm not going to be anywhere near this so no issues here and it's adjustable all the way to 6" drop which I think it should be more then enough what I really like is the price

Read the reviews and see if you can live with the few comments users have posted.

Before you buy, I would make sure a 6" drop will be enough.

This is how my stock 2500 sits with 10" drop weighsafe and my 28' car hauler hooked up empty and fairly level. I would think if you plan on lifting your truck, you're going to want that 10" drop to leave a little versatility.d463709924231aba503ef4b7349e37f2.jpg1c0f1a295c48b1b100df7f6624657002.jpg
