Hi,names Dan and my family and I just purchased a 16 jayco 29 ft tt which has a dry weight of about 6700. I have not towed it yet because we had to order it but did get a brake controller and stabilizers for it. My question would it be possible if I could tow this as well as a electric golf cart in the bed of I bought some rear Springs for my truck? I have a 15 ram crew cab hemi 3.73 gears. Thanks all.

Having no real idea what a golf cart weighs, you will want to get an accurate weight of it, passengers, cargo, tongue weight of trailer, and then go to your owners manual to see what the max hauling weight of the truck is. Suspect you will be over but that is a guess. As for air bags or such, they will help "stabilize" your load and allow you to keep the headlamps and ride height the same but will add nothing to your weight that can be hauled. Guessing that your trailer isn't a Toy Hauler. Get your weights and post them. Am sure there are many on this site that can help you with the calculations. Good luck

I can tell you no. A dry weight of 6700lbs. Buddy my Airstream setup for full timing weighted across the scales at 6892lbs. With WD and family; front axle was 3582 and rear axle 3608. I'm within axle & tire spec but over payload. Total combined was 14082lbs.

Don't concern myself much with payload, but I can't see how that trailer plus a golf cart and your passengers is not going to put you dangerously over axle ratings.

Short answer is, no you can't. You need more truck. Sorry.

Also, I had the 50% over springs in my Ram 1500. Doesn't change axle ratings, just negates sag.

Well from what I read for my truck, max payload is just under 1500 and tow capacity is 8700,camper is 7k with a tongue weight of 855 dry, golf cart is typically 800 to 900, and with camping stuff and family I'd say 1000 lbs of cargo. Without weighing since I don't have camper yet just really hoping to her a idea if anyone went for it anyways and did fine or did some upgrades. Thanks for the response so quick.

A member or 2 have done something similar in the past, WELL above posted payload.
Even just with the trailer at 29', you'll have enough to contend with when being passed by semi trailers or any wind. That is a lot of side area. (we pull a 32')

Not seeing the 3:73 rear end for any 2105 crew cab model.

3:21 - 3:55 & 3:92 are only ones listed.
Is your truck 4x2 or 4x4?
What box length?

All of this matters, as regards payload and towing.

855 tongue weight, dry, will be much more, with normal gear and water.
1500 payload, minus teh 855 known tongue weight(which will be higher, once loaded) only leaves you 645# for all passengers and gear, in the truck.

You are going to be tight, just pulling the camper without adding a thing.
Hitch weight comes off that 645# too.

The 3.73 gearing is curious...

This is a 4x4 truck and it says off the window sticker 3.73,I will double check when I get to my truck in the manual.also it's a 5.7 box. And I know it's going to be tight and with the golf cart was going to be risky,is there anything I can do to help my situation, buying new truck isn't as easy as people can type so that's not a option, also just bought this few months ago already tried to trade in lol.

Bigger truck or smaller TT are pretty much your only options. A 6700# dry TT is a big trailer. IMO, too much for a 1500 before putting a golf cart in the bed.

6700# and 855# dry weights are meaningless. Throw a battery, dual 30# CLP tanks and your gear in that trailer and you're looking at close to 8000# trailer weight and over 1000# tongue weight.

I wouldn't plan on carrying water. In fact, you might consider loading your gear rear of the trailer axles to drop the tongue weight a tad. Full tank of gas, people and any cargo is going to put you at or above your payload capacity.

Get a good WHD with 1200# bars, take it to the scales and get it dialed in.

I tow a 27' Flagstaff 27VRL with my 1500. 6780# dry weight. It scales at 8100# and 1090# tongue weight loaded. My truck is rated for 1450# payload. Luckily it's just my wife and I with no cargo in the truck at all. I'm looking to upgrade to a 2500 as I don't feel safe being on the "cusp" of limits.

As much as I love to see the edge of the envelope get licked I'd say that's a wise move.

At least you don't have to worry about if the truck pulling it- it will. Mine is a 27ft Wildwood and has dry 5500 lb's loaded around 6.5 and it's just fine.
you have to make compromises- and pulling a camping trailer is not like pulling everyday the bobcat around. I would not worry too much. but yeah- keep the golf cart off.
