I just bought a Reese towpower IV brake controller and factory style adapter to install on my 16 1500. Plugged it up. Get nothing. With trailer, without trailer. Doesn't matter. I metered the 4 prongs. None giving 12 volts unless I hit the brake. Then I get 12 on one prong. This isnt right. What am I missing?

Assuming you had ignition on when you took the measurements, my guess would be an open or missing fuse for the circuit that supplies the power to the brake controller pin.

Yes. Had the engine running. Do you know which fuse or relay actually controls that power pin. It has about 3 that just say towing.

That might be a problem with the wiring harness adapter. For some reason RAM likes to change things around, Tekonsha lists different adapters for 2012, 2014 and 2016. On my 2014 the adapter has a second smaller plug for the 12V to the controller. From what I can tell the Reese controller uses the same pinout. What adapter are you using ?
