Cannot find the plug under the dash to hook up this unit
2014 Ram 1500 SXT.
Am I totally missing something here?
Can't believe I have to hack into the wiring harness to install......

It's probably under the center dash. The factory unit goes in just under the stereo in the 13+.

Looks like I need an adapter. Tekonsha 3023-p to be exact. Because the brake controller I got is not factory. Due to the way they changed the wiring set up in 2013 and subsequent, it seems I need to get this first. Searching........

Amazon. That's were I got my adapter. After that it's plug and play. Pending how much you use your brake controller (i don't use mine much) I mounted mine low on the dash in a pre drilled panel so I didn't have to drill into my dash. I can still reach it Easy but it's uncomfortable.

I will very likely do the same mount. This unit is necessary but won't be used very much either.
Thx all.

After trial and error I mounted mine center under steering wheel with just enough room to pop hood release . Otherwise I keep hitting it with my knees

This is where mine was, too. I ended up buying a Hopkins Flex Mount, put the display in the cubby hole, the controller in the ash tray, and the proportional module behind the dash.

A little more detail on finding the connector

On my 2016 (supposedly 2013 on, wouldn't bet on it tho')-find the connector on the back of the ignition/starter switch. Follow the wire harness off the back of the switch forward and up under the dash. Where the wire harness meets the first metal brace, start feeling around. The connector is taped to the wire harness behind that dash brace.

Took me 2 days to figure this one out, figured a little more detail beyond "right of the column" or "drivers side of the console", while technically correct can be better.

i just installed a factory switch and module that i got off ebay new for $189 shipped.
the install was total MF'er. unless someone really wants the integrated dash display, i would say the aftermarket is the way to go, especially if its already pre wired for it.
