I just purchased a 2015 Ram 1500 crew 4x4 3.92 5.7 with 6' bed and the 8sp I have E rated tires. In comparison, I sold my 2006 hemi 2500 3.7 gears and pulled this trailer with a friends 2014 Cummins with the same setup. Trailer is a tow hauler 9k double axle.

First off, don't even try towing this setup in the stock form. I did the 25% coils from sdtrucksprings and the TLC air bag kit. I have used the firestones in the past, which I found to be lacking and I blew one.

I pulled several summits with 4500 feet in elevation and the truck wanted to pull it at 45 mpg at 2500. I could have pulled at 60, and of course be downshifting and revving higher.

I'm summary, I am totally happy. Would never buy the 2500 again as I only tow 3 times a year and the remainder is empty. Not buying the diesel was a good choice for me as I found my mileage was 9.8 towing this and his was 8.9. ( he had 35" tires though). I do miss the compression braking setup on the diesel though!!

I noticed a huge difference in this 8sp with the 3.92 gears. My old 2500 was continuously searching for gears and would rev to the moon. This one always seems to have a perfect gear.

Excellent setup Dodge!!

The attached pic is at the top of the summit.

That's about what my oil temps were. Hit 260 a few times. I was impressed with my 3.92 8 speed setup. Just keep the speeds down. Had a scary moment going about 70 and a wind gust hit and scared the **** out of me. The power is there on these trucks that's for sure.
