New TT owner here, and I'm wondering - whats the best way to set up the brake controller? I've googled it, and come up with different answers.

Feels pretty good to me, but I still want to be sure. I have only pulled the trailer home, so I have yet to really put it to the test by any means. I think I'm on like 4.5-5 for a 6000# trailer (2500, 6.4l)

When I put the gain higher, I almost got a "pulsing" coming from somewhere when stopping. I assumed this was too high and I dialed it back down. I haven't tried the parking lot, manual brake only test yet. Is this the best way to check? Basically go as high as I can before the brakes lock up?

Thanks in advance. Dang newbies :favorites13:

Yer on track. Take it out down the back roads or an empty lot. Run it up til the wheels lock and then back it off a notch. Happy haulin'.

I haven't used this truck's controller yet. But I've used others.

In a lot set the brake level to the middle number then get up to a little speed 20 mph. Then use the manual level only to engage the TT brakes. If I hear and feel them grab that's a good sign. On the road if I stop and I feel the TT pull me back - brakes too high. If I stop and I feel the TT push me - brakes too low.

I think this video is accurate for Rams also.

dexter is right on here. Also don't be afraid to lighten or tighten it up a number or 2 once you're driving. I tend to start off a little over boosted then as I get comfortable and the brakes get warm I lessen the number. I Think this last time I started on 8 but by the end of the trip I was around 6. this was with my 2011 outdoorsman with 5.7 & 3.92's and a 7000lb TT
