I'm a stickler when it comes to payload. My 2500 has 2250lbs of payload based on LT275/70R18 tires(3640lb max load for tire). I currently have 285/60r20 tires(which has the same max of 3640lb), if I decide to get LT295 tires with a max of 4080lbs, can I sneak out another 440lbs for payload and feel comfortable about it?

I’m betting the tires you have now exceed what your axle is rated for......

Quick math says your tires are rated for 14,560 lbs so if you’re gonna go off tires and not GVWR, axles, ext you can exceed your payload by about 4500 lbs (based on 10k GVWR but i see you have the 5.7 so it a little lower).

This is all flawed thinking but I’m just pointing out your tires are not limiting you to add another 440 lbs

Axle AND tire ratings are what matter. The whole GVWR debate will go on until the end of time and you can get plenty of info on that in every other thread on the board. As long as you are under both tire and axle ratings I personally see no problem.
