You can flat tow the 4th gens (even with 4x4 drivetrain).

See manual pages 617 - 625 (Section: Recreational Towing)

• Automatic transmission in PARK
• Manual transmission in gear (NOT in NEUTRAL)
• Transfer case in NEUTRAL (N)
• Tow in forward direction
