I have one of these on each of my 1500 and 2500. Don't own a specific trailer but may have to tow something for work or play and want the adjustability. Also, the larger surface area is better for bumper protection in slower traffic or idiots parking in parallel.

If you want a hitch and don't own a trailer an adjustable is the way to go. Not as sexy but makes more sense.

B&W stow and go is a nice hitch you can get a dual ball 2in and 2 5/16 or a tri that has all 3. They are adjustable between 5in drop and 5 1/2 rise. I use to carry a 2in and a 5in drop in a 2in and 2 5/16 now I have one that spins and holds all 3 sizes. I don't have a good pick of it but I'll post what I have.

Edit: it also adjust up and down

There are a number of varieties available. Forget where I got mine but if you go to etrailer.com in the link you can choose from any number of sizes, drops and other specifics. Should be able to get one for $150 shipped, or so.

It's got 4 balls on it because I upgraded my 2 5/16 from a 6k to a 12k and have been to lazy to take the other off.
