Arrow Towing Differences 2013-present
I have a 2013 ram sport quad cab 4x4 with 3.21s with 8 speed - 5.7L Hemi

Ive been looking for the max towing and payload stats and I see that every link has different numbers for different years from 2013 to present (between 6.4k up to ~8.5k)

Has there been changes to the suspension etc? (same engine trans gears)
what causes these changes in numbers? Which is the correct rating for payload and towing capacity for my truck?

I know the 13 (first year of the 8 speed). Was greatly underrated vs the 14. It jumped 2k from 13-14 with no actual differences other probably testing.

Interesting. I just checked Trailer Life's 2013 Towing guide and they don't even show a 2013 Ram quad cab 4x4 with the 5.7 and 8 speed? They only show it with the 6 speed in that year...

OK, double check for yourself, but according to the 2014 trailer life towing guide, you should have an 8k tow rating.

2013 shows 6550, 2014 shows 7900. To me there is no difference In the two trucks they just had more time to test and figure out the strengths and weaknesses of that trans in that t uck with those gears. Also states you have a 1420lb payload

Many say the manufacturers suggested max payload is just a guide for when you don't have actual scale access. DOT & scale houses etc are concerned with axle weights for safety. Our trucks max axles ratings are 3,900 each which you never want to exceed.

So theoretical max payload would be 7,800 less actual truck weight but it never works out that way as you cannot get in any normal situation equal distribution on each axle. Hense if you use the sticker number and badly displace the weight you should still be under the axle weight of 3,900.
