i have a 2010 6.7 cummins.. dpf delete.. egr delete... and PPEI 5 tunes. with trans tuning and the 68 rfe protection plate kit by BD Diesel. My truck is rated at 17,600 lbs of towing capicity... i also have a 5th wheel hitch long box and air bags in the back. I bought a 25,000 lbs zoom boom. If i got a triple axel gooseneck trailer would i be able to tow it???? the new rams are rated to tow 30,000 lbs with the same engine, im curious what the difference is and if i would be able to safetly do it or not. thanks

You will still be over your max tow weight by 7,400 pounds with just the lift. Add in the weight of the trailer (probably 5,000 pounds minimum) and you are three times the weight of your 3500. It doesn't matter how many axles the trailer has, that won't increase your rated tow capacity. That 30K tow rating is max combined weight of truck and trailer with a much improved frame and suspension system over your 2010. Realistically you are in need of a Ram 4500/5500.

If you decided to tow that much with your truck I suggest you also invest in a good lawyer on retainer. Just in case you get in a wreck while towing. Being a few hundred pounds over weight may be over looked. Being thousands of pounds over weight will be a legal nightmare.

Can you do it? Yes. Can you do it legally? No.
Short distances you're probably ok barring any accidents, but I wouldn't tow that any distance or regularly especially with DOT always looking for this kind of stuff.

It would only be for short distances

My truck weighs almost 9000 lbs. Im just curious what the biggest issue or worry i would have.. Towing it or stopping it. I it weighs 24,500 trailer is 3500. Plus truck. Ib my big horn 1500 i was rated for 14,000... I towed close to 20,000 with bags tune and 5th wheel hitch. Trucks are always under rated. I think its too much weights too.. I plan on having it low bedded. .. Thanks for the info

Without a doubt, Payload. 28000# combined trailer weight - roughly 20% goes on the pin. So, that's roughly 5500# in the bed of a truck intended to carry +/- 3500#. Pulling and carrying are two different things. You'd likely be able to pull it without blowing up your truck. With 5500# in the bed your headlights would be pointing at the sky and your rear tires might explode. And that's before you even start moving :)
