Towing tire pressure

I have a 2013 Hemi 1500 Laramie Longhorn CC with the 6.5 box. I occasionally tow a small horse trailer. I have the 275/60R20 that call for 39 psi. The truck has the factory air suspension and trailer brake. I run a WDH when towing. Do you experienced to guys recommend bumping up the air pressure in the rears a bit to account for the tongue weight and maybe get better tire wear?

I do...

On the dually 3500 had, I'd run 25 psi in all 4 rear tires unloaded, and then bump them up top 35-55 depending on the trailer/load weight.

Not sure I understand the question. Is 39 the max on the sidewall and you're asking if you should go above that? Or, are you running lower and want to know if you should go up to the max?

Don't exceed max cold pressure and if you want max performance/safety/capability inflate up to the max on the sidewall. If you need more weight carrying capacity than what is on the tire you need more tire (and likely truck).

I run below max cold pressure without a load on the truck. When I hook up, the tire pressure is increased for better wear and to reduce heat.

I never exceed max cold pressure and allow for PSI "growth" as the tires warm up.

As maddog said max out the cold psi unloaded that's the best you can do safely.

39 PSI is the recommended pressure on the door jam sticker. I run that for daily use and it works well. I bump it up to 44 (max pressure for my tires) when towing. It definitely adds stability. This advice really only applies to OEM P rated tires (or equivalent) though. LT tires will likely need more pressure yet.

I run mine at 70 psi cold all the way around normal driving and 80 psi (max pressure) when towing the tt, for the exact reasons mentioned by maddog, plus stiffer sidewalls to combat trailer sway

Yes but you probably have good tires and not these crappy ******** factory half ton tires... lol

Thanks for the help guys. Ill eun at the max cold of 44 while towing and 39 while not.

If you want the best compromise of handling, comfort, mpg, & tread Wear, google chalk test and do that.

That's how I came up with the numbers I ran
