When I tried to look up the towing specs of the 2014 Ram R/T I had no luck. It does show the Express (9250 lbs ) and Sport (5050 lbs ) but doesn't show the R/T. What truck model is the R/T based on?

Figuring the towing capacity of an R/T seems nearly impossible online. Unless a member here has one or you can see some numbers in print at a dealer it will all be conjecture.
The 4.10 gears might up the amount from a RCSB Sport, but the 22's could bring it back down? Being RCSB and 2WD it should be pretty high.

Well paint me pink and call me Dave; I thought the R/T should handle more than that but I guess not. Seems the 4.10s w/6spd equal the 3.92s w/8spd.
We learned something new today- thanks for that link!!

The higher stall of R/T and 22s lowered the capacity. In 2014 the R/T with 8 speed looses the 4.10s and higher stall.

The key to towing with the 2014 R/T is the wheels and tires. The towing is reduced to 5050 due to the useless 22" wheels and 285/45R22 tires. We changed the tries to standard 2013/2014 20" Sport tires and wheels which brings the rating up to what it should be. Ram says it is 9250 with a short bed and 10,450 with a long bed but that is only because they want to fudge on the safe side for stability. I have pulled more than 10,000 with my 1994 1500 5.9 (But slowly on the highway due to power) and I plan to pull that much and more more easily with our 2014 R/T with weight Dist. hitch and stabilizer. We just got it yesterday.

I don't think forged wheels are that useless on a sport truck

Remember if you get pulled over and they check your factory weight/towing allowances, they will be stock #s. Changing the wheels and tires doesn't ACTUALLY change those figures. Only your common sense did. They could easily fine you for being "over capacity".

Very true. Get in a wreck while towing over the stock ratings and say goodby to any chance of an insurance claim, whether it's your fault or not.
