Don't the 1500 mega's sit on a 2500 suspension? Either way that's a load on the bed

It's got the 2500 frame and axles but the 1500 suspension.

Which airbags did you go with? I was thinking about doing the same with mine.

Does this make it more suited to tow/haul more weight? I have an 06 mega cab 1500.

The 1500's were built on the 2500 chassis. It's not a 1500 suspension, just a slightly softer 2500 suspension. 1 less leaf in the rear but still coils in the front. THESE are the bags I used.

They don't legally increase your payload but it makes the ride much more enjoyable. If you're going to be doing any type of hauling and/or towing I highly recommend them. Before the bags my truck used to sit perfectly level when it was empty. If you'd put any more than 200lbs in the bed it would look like it was squatting. now it sits where ever I want it to..

Gotcha. I always assumed they were 1500 springs because they sagged so bad. I think those airbags will be my next mod.

I want to get those bags and the daystar bag 'buckets' for the bottom so I can still get full droop.

Looking back at that link, it's the right kit but wrong picture.

Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs - Double Convoluted - Rear Axle Firestone Vehicle Suspension F2299

This is a better representation of the ride rite 2299 kit. It simply bolts below where the stock bump stops were. (you remove them) No drilling or cutting required, I think it took me a whole 15 minutes to install them in my driveway. Only thing I drilled were two holes next to my license plate to run the schrader valves through.

This is great, thanks for posting it. I haven't looked at airbags yet.....always thought I would add a leaf or two some day but I'd hate to loose that nice ride when I'm not hauling anything.

Yep. Have Firestone airbags in my 1500. Handles my 2000# Lance 815 camper all day long.

Awesome

Love it. Love the practical use as well.

Is it leveled? What is your wheel/tire set up?

It looks what I envision for mine down the road.

Not leveled, only suspension mod is the bags. Tires are 275/65-20 NITTO Terra Grapplers. Wheels are Eagle Alloys Series 079 Chrome 20x9 8x165 -12 130. Wheels are garbage. Chrome started peeling off and pitting less than a year after getting them. Next wheels will be black or powder coated. Love the tires, hate the wheels.

Thanks for the tips.

I had expected wider tires/rims, but I expect the offset takes care of that. It's a very good truck with tasteful mods to add some character.

I still use mine to tow/haul/take kids places, so I don't want it to be some drastically changed that I lose utility, but I would like to make it my own beyond the stock setup.
