We do some towing with the GF's 2006 1500 QC 4x4 with the 5.7 Hemi. We've probably taken it right to it's rated limit, and it squats out big time. I'd like to add helper-bags and thought I'd see if there is a preferred kit that fits/works best. I'm fine with simple schrader valves not anything with a compressor and such.

Thanks,
TJ

I ordered the Firestone Ride-Rite kit FWIW, I'll report back how fit and function is.

Air lift 1000 bags are nice but admittedly haven't used them with a lot of weight yet

Firestone Ride Rite Bags Are good Bags We Transported Cars with A 48 ft Enclosed Trailer We Ran Some Big Miles My Dads 1997 Ford F350 We Had Installed Them On It For Ride Help We Put 421,000 miles on that truck in two years and only had to replace one bag in that time

Airbags or adjustable "helper spring"?

I'm leery of airbags for some reason....
Just somethin in my gut tellin me to stay away.
Too much COULD go wrong with them and then you could be stuck.

With an auto adjusting helper spring there isn't so much that could go wrong.

This is what I'm talking about:
SSA5 SuperSprings Helper Spring

I have that air bag kit. I have not had any issues as of yet. Ive put 2700lbs or so in the bed and the truck sat a little down. Not to much. One thing i like is you can adjust them to your needs. No weight, 15-20psi. Big load, 80psi +. Personally I would highly recommend them. Easy to install and the finished product looks professional. And i like the sale they have right now:)

Do you need the truck to be 4x4 to have that installed? Or can it be done on the 2 wheel drive?

They say on the website 4wd but i don't see why, it has nothing to do with the front end at all. Just hauled a pickup the same size as mine and it sat a little down. Pulled it just fine, no swaying or anything.
