Hi.
I have a 2003 3500 with a Cummins.
I have been doing tons of reading and getting several answers. My right turn signal doesn't work on the trailer. No power going to the wire in the plug. When I turn on the left signal I can hear and feel the flasher clicking by the fuse box under the hood. When I turn on the right signal the click is very faint.
thank you in advance for any help.

Check your owners manual and see if your truck has dedicated trailer fuses. I'm not sure about 2003 but the newer trucks will have a fuse for each function of the trailer. Left turn, right turn, running lights, 12v power, trailer brakes ect they each might have there own fuse.

Does the right turn signal on the truck work fine?

All my fuses are good and the turn signals on the truck works as they should.

Hmm, does your truck have a dedicated circuit for the right turn signal? If it does try replaceing the fuse anyways sometimes they can pop but be really difficult to see I have overlooked few before. If that doesn't work check the power to that fuse you can tell if it's before or after the block that way.

I can tell it's getting power through the fuse because it makes a weak clicking noise. The last turn makes the same noise only much stronger. You can even feel it when the left turn is on.

The clicking is the flasher the fuse won't click

Edit: does your owners manual show a dedicated right hand turn signal, I haven't been able to find the diagram for a 2003 2500.

Yes I understand that. Just saying I know the fuse is good because it is still getting power at last to the flasher.

There is probably a fuse after the flasher to keep a trailer short from effecting the truck. Here I found this check fuse #47

Here's the box diagram I found one. http://www.ramforum.com/f54/need_2003_ram_fuse_list-12565/

Edit: sorry for being so persistent but I'm 95% sure this is your issue I have had the same senario happen to me many times

Fuse 47 is good. From what I understand everything for the trailer is on a totally different harness. It doesn't share any fuses or flasher relays.

Can you check for power at the fuse with a multi meter? If it's got power there it has to be In your wireing bundle or your actual plug. I appologize for being so persistent I was very confident on the trailer fuse, it is a very common occurrence had it happen on multiple trucks and multiple members on her. Plus it's the easy fix I always chase the easy fix first.

Yeah those fuses like to pop. If the clicking is faint id look at the relay. The relay could be worn out

Thank you for all the ideas. Most I have checked but I recheck when mentioned. Fuse 47 has power going through it. My understanding is that it is a different relay for the trailer lights and I think it is built into controller.

yeah I am at a loss now sorry, I have basic wiring knowledge and some hands on experience. with out the truck in front of me I am no longer helpful. My first thought is actual wiring issue or the rear connector. the relay for the trailer I would imagine would be before the fuse I could be wrong but it still is a good place to check.

I'm with you. Wiring is kind of my thing but this one has me stumped. I have been doing a lot of reading and everything is pointing to replacing the fuse box. If I don't get some kind of idea from someone soon I'm going to wire in a relay off the truck brake light instead of running off the trailer circuit. Thank you very much for your help. The more the brains the better.

i'm not up to date on on the fuse box thing i guess. It doesn't make sense in my head how the fuse box would be bad if you have power going through that fuse how can the box be bad? can you explain? it'll be something for me to learn. I am with you I would branch off the tail light before I would replace the fuse box that is for sure.

edit: I would chase down that relay and check it too just to see.

My '06 is different since it has a TIPM but a few years ago I hooked up to a trailer with a bad ground and it fried the trailer turn signal circuit. All of the truck lights worked and the trailer brake lights had a fuse but there was no fuse for the trailer turn signal lights. Instead of buying a new $650 TIPM I got a $50 wiring harness that tapped into the truck tail lights then into the 7 pin. Worked like a charm.

Sounds like what I'm going to have to do. Thanks
