Hi;

I am considering buying a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins for my towable trailer but want to eventually get a 5th wheel.

Should I get a long bed or will a short bed be ok?

I'd get the long bed for the extra 5th wheel turning clearance. Otherwise you'll need to get a slider hitch and mess around with it.

Short bed works, but if you have tight turns as stated above you need to slide the hitch backwards in order to clear the cab, which is not required with a long bed.

So Long bed is better, longer wheelbase gives a smoother ride and less hassle with a Fifth Wheel.

Hope this helps you make an educated decision.

I agree long bed, I have seen the damage first hand of a gooseneck (I know they have a different hitch but still same possible damage) dented bedside and broken back glass he was lucky he didn't catch his rear piller.
