My buddy has a common rail and has a Air Dog to be installed .

He said today that he had to drop the fuel cell to install it ? Is this true in the 3rd gen CTD ... If so that sucks

He is on here and will chime in . I am not looking forward to helping him on this install .

You have to remove the factory lift pump, which is in the tank. On my brothers 4th gen we removed the bed instead of dropping the tank. A buddy of mine dropped the tank on his 3rd gen.

Mopar1973Man's Dodge Cummins Articles - How To Install A AirDog 150 Fuel System

I know the article is a bit dated but it will help installing the fuel system. But I'm no longer a big fan of AirDog more so of FASS now.

New Airdog plumbing and mounting...

Thing is the old school way allow the owner to select where he wants to install the pump eith er with the short bed bracket (no longer made) or the long bed bracket. But as you can see the new plumbing is all pre-crimped and setup so the plumbing dictates where the ump will be mounted. So what if you truck goes offroad? Now you got a pump and filter getting beat up by all the road debris...

So all AD has to do is ditch the crimped lines and go back to the JIC fittings...

As for the tank thats easy... Get the beer and a friend... I held my beer and the camer and let him do it... LMAO!

Actually the fuel tank is completely empty just a very awkward piece to deal with. I've drop my fuel tank a total of 3 times now and not hard to do as long as its empty.
