You'll need a beefier transmission to get up to 500 hp. A guy in my town has a 07 5.9 that he's done so much too. He got dynoed at about 780 at the rear wheels, and had to get a different transmission when he got into the 400 to 450 range.

To gain horsepower quick, get bigger fuel injectors and a chip. The guy that owns that 07 has 140 horse chip, and 100 horse injectors.

you can hit 500 hp or pretty damn close to it without touching the injectors. quick hp without supporting mods is a recipe for disaster. build your trans, get a good set of gauges, and upgrade your fuel system.

As they mentioned you'll want to get the transmission built first. You need more air and more fuel to make more power and you'll run out of air before you run out of fuel.
You are going to need a larger charger something in the 64-66mm range. I would step up to a T4, but if you stay with a T3 you can use your stock manifold. Aftermarket will flow better, but it depends on your budget.
Smarty seem to be pretty popular tuning for the 5.9's.
Don't waste your money on intake horns, boost tubes and what not. I would also get a set of head studs, it's cheap insurance to keep your head planted. Once you start running out of fuel then start upgrading hard parts. CP3, lift pump and injectors/tips etc.

This is a very mild build. We do it all the time with just a programmer. You will want gauges, and some trans mods (shift kit, GM solenoid conversion and a low stall converter) should be just a little over $1000. Smarty programmer is $685 and gauges about $325.

some mods to your turbo can be made by enlarging the wastegate port to 22-25mm to allow for better top end. if you have questions 801-927-4600
